"SUPER SEMINAR XXIX"
WITH
Jamie Davies of Schramsberg • Dan Duckhorn of Duckhorn Vineyards • Jim Clendenen of ABC & Vita-Nova

Dear Wine Associates:

With the greatest of pleasure, we invite you to join us on Thursday, November 30, 2000, as we present the last Wine Association event of the year - "SUPER SEMINAR XXIX" - with our traditional line-up of truly super guests. Each of our super-knowledgeable and super-creative guests has worked with us to make this event truly special. We'll show one sparkling début! We'll show five sneak previews! We'll show eight current or new releases! We'll show a mini-vertical that includes a barrel sample and an aged gem of a famous traditional wine! And, we have several more super treats planned!

JAMIE DAVIES of SCHRAMSBERG is America's premier producer of methode champenoise sparkling wines. Our delightful friend Jamie and her late husband Jack were true pioneers of the modern-day wine scene. She has been a guest at our events for nearly 30 years. To continue the tradition, Jamie is back with the début of the exciting 2001 Commemorative Edition of Schramsberg's 1992 Reserve created exclusively for this historic occasion and available only at the winery and a limited number of fine wine merchants around the country, including the Duke of Bourbon, of course. We'll also proudly present Schramsberg's charming Crémant demi-sec and their prestigious 1993 tête de cuvée, J. Schram.

DAN DUCKHORN, the ever-popular proprietor of DUCKHORN VINEYARDS, deserves credit for bringing California Merlot to the forefront of the wine world. He once again brings excitement to the Super Seminar with a mini-vertical showcase of his Napa Valley Merlot. For an overview of this wine's progression, we'll taste a barrel sample (1999), the current release (1998) and an aged gem (1993). This should prove quite educational as well as pleasurable. In addition, we will taste Duckhorn's ever-popular Sauvignon Blanc, their dynamic 1996 Howell Mountain Merlot and a preview of their famed Three Palms Merlot (to be released April, 2001).

JIM CLENDENEN, the inimitable founder/winemaker/creative director of AU BON CLIMAT and a host of other exciting wine brands, has always given us a peek of his great "Isabelle" Pinot Noir at the Super Seminar. This year, in addition to previewing the 1999 "Isabelle" Pinot Noir, we will also preview the second vintages of his Estate 1999 "Knox Alexander" Pinot Noir and 1999 Hildegarde white wine, both of which we introduced last year at this time. This year's "firsts" from the ubiquitous Jim will include another new Estate wine of the Italian variety under his Borgo Buon Natale label - Primogénito, a blend of Tocai Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Bianco; a great new Chardonnay from the Mt. Carmel Vineyard in the western Santa Ynez Valley; and two dynamic wines under his Vita-Nova label - the intriguing Acronicus, a salute to the "garagistes" (super-small-production artisan Bordeaux blends) which is made of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot, and a rich Sangiovese from the highly respected Stolpman Vineyard.
