We are delighted to invite you to join us on Monday, May 21, 2001 for our second winemaker dinner presented in partnership with the Four Seasons Hotel, Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. This event will focus on the world-class cuisine of Executive Chef Conny Andersson matched with the outstanding wines of Iron Horse Vineyards. Our very special and most charming guest will be Forrest Tancer, partner and chief winemaker at Iron Horse. Spring is the theme of Chef Andersson's beautiful menu; the elegant Gardens Restaurant assures the setting for a beautiful evening.

The picturesque Iron Horse Vineyards, located in Sonoma County's Green Valley, was founded by Audrey and Barry Sterling in 1976. Forrest Tancer was vineyard manager at the time. In 1979, he formed a partnership with the Sterlings to build the winery, eventually became the winemaker and, in 1990, married Audrey's and Barry's delightful daughter, Joy, who is partner as well as marketing director for this close family operation. Using grapes exclusively from the Iron Horse Vineyards and from Forrest's family estate, the T-Bar-T Ranch in the Alexander Valley just 30 miles away, this team has created a premier California wine estate.

Forrest is both an exceedingly fine winemaker and an eloquent spokesman for the wine industry. In 1990, Time magazine called him a "leader of a new generation of California winemakers." He produces an extensive selection of excellent wines, including exciting sparkling wines, classy Chardonnays and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons, all of which have received numerous accolades. Iron Horse wines have been selected among the top 100 wines of the year by both the Wine Spectator and the Wine Enthusiast.

Each of the wines Forrest has selected to accompany Chef Andersson's menu is unique and show's Forrest's personal care and attention to detail. The Vrais Amis (meaning "true friends") depicts the philosophy of the Tancers and Sterlings, for they are among the most hospitable people we know. The flowery Cuvée R (80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Viognier) is dedicated to Forrest's mother Renée, who taught him to love wine and to love the T-Bar-T vineyards. The refined and elegant Cuvée Joy Chardonnay is named for his lovely wife, of course. The two distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons give us an example of the art of blending, where Forrest feels that each cuvée alone is better than a combination of the two.
