"The Fab Five '99"
CHATEAU MONTELENA · IRON HORSE
MAYACAMAS · SILVER OAK · WHITHALL LANE

Dear Wine Associates:

With great pleasure, we invite you to join us on Thursday, August 19, 1999, as we present "THE FAB FIVE '99" featuring the "fabulous" wines of five "fabulous" wineries plus a fabulous group of gregarious guests: CHRISTIE GERLACH of CHATEAU MONTELENA; FORREST TANCER of IRON HORSE; SUSAN CANNON of SILVER OAK; and TOM LEONARDINI of WHITEHALL LANE. Our seminar will highlight several exciting rare releases and premier presentations.

CHATEAU MONTELENA,
located at the northern end of the Napa Valley in Calistoga, without a doubt is one of California's finest wineries producing both world-class Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays. They first earned their reputation when their 1973 Chardonnay won the famed "1976 Paris Tasting." We are delighted to welcome back our charming friend Christie Gerlach, their Los Angeles Regional Representative, to guide us through the premier showing of their 1997 Chardonnay and 1997 Calistoga Cuvée (100% Cabernet Sauvignon).

IRON HORSE VINEYARDS, situated at the far western edge of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley in the lovely Sonoma-Green Valley, is owned by the hospitable Sterling Family and produces an outstanding array of world-class wines from beautiful sparklers to a myriad of notable prime varietals. Talented and creative Partner-Winemaker Forrest Tancer will both educate and entertain you as he describes his delectable 1997 Cuvée Joy (a rich, bold Chardonnay dedicated to his wife and partner, Joy), the sparkling 1994 "Vrais Amis" meant especially for "true friends" (it placed #2 in the famous Los Angeles Times tasting a few years ago), the 1997 Thomas Road Pinot Noir (Forrest considers this his finest Pinot Noir and only 300 cases were produced), and the stunning 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon.

MAYACAMAS VINEYARDS, situated in the picturesque Mayacamas Mountains on the western side of the Napa Valley, is owned by Bob and Nonie Travers. They produced their first vintage in 1968 and have achieved fame for powerful wines of exceptional quality and great aging potential. Unfortunately neither Bob nor Nonie is able to join us for this evening, but we are pleased to be presenting their long, long-awaited 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is their 26th vintage...and the "Duke" has offered every one of them!

SILVER OAK CELLARS, located in the Oakville area of Napa Valley and in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County, was founded by Winegrower Justin Meyer. Known for over 25 years for producing outstanding and highly coveted Cabernet Sauvignons, Silver Oak's two gems have been dubbed "America's wines." We presented their 1994 Napa Valley release earlier this year and we are pleased to welcome back their lovely and knowledgeable Southern California Sales Director Susan Cannon to present their superb 1995 Alexander Valley edition.

WHITEHALL LANE WINERY, owned since 1993 by Tom Leonardini, sits in the heart of Napa Valley's Rutherford appellation. Tom is an active owner involved in sales, marketing and production. This winery is producing a diverse portfolio of exceptional wines, many of which have received the highest accolades. In fact, in December of 1998, their 1995 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was selected as the #5 red wine in the world by the Wine Spectator...the highest-ranked California Cabernet Sauvignon! We are excited to be premiering their 1996 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, which will be released September 1, here's your chance to order some before it disappears. In addition, Tom will introduce his outstanding 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
