After 41 years in the fine wine business, the Duke has developed many traditions. One of those traditions is offering Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon. We have proudly offered every one of Spottswoode's vintages, including the inaugural 1982, and count the Novaks among the many friends of the Duke. Spottswoode's goal is simple - to honor their vineyard by producing a wine of great depth, complexity and elegance which reflects the pinnacle of the vineyard's specific qualities, as well as the unique attributes of the vintage.

The 2005 vintage is now available and may be their best ever! Robert Parker rates this stunning effort at 96 points and raves: "The prodigious 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate may be Spottswoode's strongest effort since their superb 2002 and 2001. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by a classic bouquet of violets, graphite, blueberries, and creme de cassis with hints of licorice and cedar. Stunningly pure and elegant as well as substantial and authoritatively flavored, this is a long, rich, concentrated wine with the grace of a ballerina. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age and consume it over the following 20-25+ years." He likens it to a great vintage of Chateau Margaux!
