Here are two new wines from the Duckhorn Wine Company. Most of you have tried Decoy in the past, which was always produced as a Bordeaux blend. Now, several other wines are being produced. The two just released are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We tasted both of these wines side by side and, at first, we thought they were pretty good. After an hour or so, they really opened up and we found them to be excellent, with good complexity and true varietal character . . . and they certainly are priced right!

 Since 1985, Decoy has earned an important place in the Duckhorn Wine Company family of wines by allowing their winemaking team blending flexibility.

Their Decoy 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. This appealing Napa Valley bottling highlights the complexity of the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal and offers the classic Cabernet elements of currant, cherry, plum and olive.

Their Decoy 2007 Merlot is 86% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. It highlights the elegance of the Merlot varietal and reflects the rich diversity of Napa Valley's many appellations. It offers the signature flavors of black cherry, plum and spice.
