CLASSIC 2006 BURGUNDIES from MAISON JOSEPH DROUHIN
with Very Special Guest

LAURENT DROUHIN

Dear Wine Associates:

It is our pleasure to welcome LAURENT DROUHIN as our very special guest for a fascinating seminar on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, showcasing the "CLASSIC 2006 BURGUNDIES from MAISON JOSEPH DROUHIN." Laurent, the charming son of Robert Drouhin and great-grandson of Joseph Drouhin, is back by popular demand, having joined us a couple of years ago when we previewed the Drouhin 2004 vintage. Laurent grew up playing in his family's vineyards. He and his siblings-Philippe, Véronique and Frédéric-are all involved in the family business, each one with his or her own responsibilities. Laurent, who lives in New York with his family, is Drouhin's ambassador to the United States and is responsible for sales, communications and public relations.

Joseph Drouhin founded the famous "négociant firm" in 1880 when he purchased an existing wine house established in 1796. Located in the heart of Beaune, France, Drouhin produces some of the world's finest wines from some of France's most famous Burgundian vineyards. In addition, the Drouhin Family owns the outstanding U.S. winery, DOMAINE DROUHIN OREGON.

The House of Drouhin produces upwards of 80 different wines each year, many of which are extremely limited and difficult to obtain. Chardonnay for white Burgundy and Pinot Noir for red Burgundy are the grapes used in this treasured appellation. The three massive cellars (all preserved in their original states) of the Drouhin Family include one with Gothic architecture and vaulted ceilings built in the 13th Century, one situated beneath the 14th-Century former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy and one located under the ancient Parliament of Beaune-a cellar that was built for the kings of France in the 16th Century.

Reports of the 2006 vintage from Maison Joseph Drouhin tell us that, with this vintage, Burgundy is revisiting a style of wine which can only be defined as "classic," with all the authenticity and distinction this term implies. The white wines are ample and rich, with a nice velvety texture. The acidity is not pronounced, hence their early charm. The wines of Chablis display both refreshing minerality and acidity. As for the Crus of Côte d'Or, already long-lasting on the palate, they reveal their origin and breed. The red wines, as a rule, are not as intense in color as the 2005s. The bouquets are well-defined, pure and reminiscent of red berries. Côte de Beaune seems to have produced wines that are on the elegant side, whereas the wines are fleshier and more structured in Côte de Nuits. Early reviews indicate that these wines are wellappreciated and are garnering scores in the 90-95 range.

The Drouhin Family is sending over an excellent selection of their 2006 Burgundies for us to preview and then have the opportunity to purchase at special futures prices. The wines are scheduled for delivery in the late summer of 2008. We will have a limited amount of wine to preview, so we recommend that you make your reservation promptly to assure your place at what promises to be an enlightening and educational evening. In a repeat of all of our previous successful Burgundy seminars, we are delighted to welcome back our friend NETTA WILLIAMS, the knowledgable Regional Sales Manager for Maison Joseph Drouhin. Netta will assist Laurent in leading our barrel-sample tasting.
