Alexandre Monmousseau Sparkling Wine Gaudrelle Cr̩mant de Loire Brut NV Sparkling

Alexandre Monmousseau Sparkling Wine Gaudrelle Cr̩mant de Loire Brut NV Sparkling

It is hard to imagine a better buy. This is a beautiful aperitif wine, but can easily be found on the dinner table as well.

Our Impressions:

Excellent balance, along with a harmony of flavors and length. This delightful sparkler offers up a beautiful light straw yellow color, and although fairly fizzy, the bubbles are very small bubbles, which delighted us to no end!

The nose shows light buttery notes, apple, chalk and a hint of honey. The flavors showcase attractive minerality, along with apple, pear, and hints of toast and honey. The wine really excels in the finish, which brings Chenin Blanc to the forefront in a burst of that pear and mineral. It possesses a very long finish with lingering notes of chalky mineral and quince. This is an outstanding value, and a must have sparkling for this holiday season!.

Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, 92Pts:

"This sparkling wine should not be missed. It is a terrific example of how good sparkling Vouvray can be and 100% Chenin Blanc cuvées. Even better is the slightly richer, more honey and lemon-scented and flavored non-vintage Crémant de Loire. A blend of equal parts Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay aged for a minimum of 18 to 24 months in their cellars before disgorgement, this is a real beauty and a superb wine."

"Unfortunately, just under 100 cases are imported to the United States. It is amazing how good a value Vouvray has remained despite the fact that it is such a popular wine from Loire."

"The appellation was founded in 1936 and covers nine villages in the region. You can find sparkling wines at this estate – sec (dry) or demi-sec (basically off-dry, although for most consumers these would be considered dry) – as well as their sweet wines, which vary considerably in their degrees of sweetness and are referred to as moelleux. All four of the following cuvees performed brilliantly in my tasting."

Winery Notes:

"Crémant de Loire is the oldest appellation in the Loire from Nantes to Nevers. It's a blend of 50% Chenin Blanc and 50% Chardonnay sourced in uncle estate. It an interesting experience as sparkling wines for people who want to have a fine and elegant wine comparable to Champagne for a very good price. Serve chilly around 8°C for aperitif, dessert, cocktail party and brunch.
This sparkling wine is made with 100% chenin Blanc. The small bubbles are very fine and they enhance the true enjoyment of this true Vouvray, which is fruity and fresh with flavors of peach, apricot and lemon. Like a fine champagne you appreciate its minerality and dry flavor. It’s perfect for an aperitif, dessert or to accompany a delicate fish appetizer."
