Arrow & Branch 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

It is always fun to discover new wines for your pleasure. Arrow and Branch is on its wy to become a cult winery!

Our Impressions:

One of the rising starts of the Napa Valley, Jennifer Williams has been making wine for Arrow & Branch since 2011, following a five-year stint as winemaker for Spottswoode. At Spottswoode she became drawn to organic and sustainable farming, practices she continues to this day, and before taking over as winemaker worked under such impressive names as David Abreu and Rosemary Cakebread. She also worked as an enologist for Trefethen Family Vineyards and worked harvest in Spain’s Rioja Alavesa region. This wide range of knowledge and experience has served her well in the creation of these wines.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich purple, with notes of black cherry, licorice and raspberry on the nose. On the palate the wine reveals a great deal of fruit without being a “fruit bomb.” Smooth tannins, black raspberry and cedar play across the tongue, with a smooth finish.

The Red Blend shares the dark purple hue of its brother, with red and black fruit, raspberry and red licorice apparent on the nose. In the mouth the wine offers refined tannins with flavors of red cherry and berries, balanced by luscious notes of earth. It has a long, smooth finish.

In short, these wines are winners, and won’t empty your wallet like more well-known offerings. Check out these delicious bargains today!

2012 Cabernet Winery Notes:

"Dense and balanced from the start, this wine exhibits a warm, dark, brooding entry, and has aromas laced with chocolate, cinnamon and cedar. It proudly exhibits distinct dried herbal notes characteristic of classic Cabernet, followed by flavors of plum, black cherry, and wet stone. With generous and plush tannins, it opens rich and broad across the palate and ends with a long and structured finish. With decanting this wine is immediately appealing but patient cellaring of 10-15 years will further enhance the beauty of this remarkable wine.”

2012 Red Blend, Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, 90Pts:

"The 2012 Proprietary Red is composed of 55% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon. Elegant and fresh with raspberry as well as red and black currant fruit and a floral note, it possesses medium body, sweet tannin and impressive purity. Drink it over the next 7-10 years.”
