Dalla Valle 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Maya

Dalla Valle 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Maya

Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, 98 Pts.:

"This iconic estate whose vineyard is planted high in the red soils of the Oakville Corridor, on the eastern hillsides of the Vaca Mountains, has turned out two magnificent 2012s. A few years ago they went through a quasi-slump (at least for them) when much of the vineyard had to be replanted because of the dreaded phylloxera that was slowly destroying many Napa Valley vineyards. However, that is in the past. The superb 2012 vintage has given proprietress Naoko Dalla Valle a brilliant blueprint to imprint the gorgeous style of these wine. She is backed up admirably by the globe-trotting, world-renowned winemaking guru, Michel Rolland."

Vinous, Antonio Galloni, 98+ Pts.:

"Naoko Dalla Valle and winemaker Andy Erickson made some of the most powerful, structured 2012s readers will come across. As was the case throughout the valley, the harvest was quite late. I visited the property in late September, a day or two before harvest was scheduled to start. Erickson subsequently decided to wait another week. I tasted the 2012s from bottle twice. If opened young, the wines require quite a bit of aeration, as they are dense and opulent, yet also remarkably structured."

"Aromatic lift, precision and intensity are the signatures of the 2012 Maya. Savory herbs, mint, violets, spices and red cherry jam are woven together in an intricate fabric of flavors and textures that captivate all the senses. Pure power and finesse are rarely found together to this degree. Readers who can find the 2012 are in for a real treat. This is an utterly magnificent Maya."
