Last year, you elected this as the most popular Pinot Noir: This year the "Reserve" is released! Limited amount available
The aromatics show black cherry, fresh cooked strawberries, ripe currants, and blueberry in the nose. In the background there is a dusting of cocoa nibs and voluptuous blackberry.
On the palate it first shows dark fruits that focus on the center of the palate then steadily permeates into all areas of the mouth. The cooked strawberries are present all over on the front and in the background. The focused acidity, balanced with ripe tannins, carries the rich dark fruit character toward the mid-palate, followed by lush black cherry and sealed with ripe currants. Flavors are slowly released from the wine showcasing a rich complexity of flavors and textures ending with a long seductive finish.
Diamond Ridge Vineyards and Winery was established in the early 1990’s with the goal of producing high quality wines. This small family-run winery selects only the best grapes from various vineyards throughout Sonoma Valley to make their distinctly lush wines. These particular grapes came from the Arnold Vineyard on Arnold Drive just west of the town of Sonoma. The vineyard is owned by the Price Family, who are old-time grape growers in Sonoma Valley.
This Sonoma Valley appellation Pinot Noir is made from grapes grown in volcanic soil with gravelly loam. This provides for a warm climate with days reaching up to 90° F, with nights that cool down to 50-55° F. This climate leads to a slower ripening rate over a longer period of time, a particular growing pattern that allows the flavors of the fruit to develop fully, adding depth and complexity. These grapes were harvested in early September, and then fermented using traditional methods and small, stainless steel tanks. Subsequent to the fermentation process, the wine was then aged for 6 months in French Oak barrels.
