A spectacular wine from a spectacular vintage!
Collina means “hill” in Italian, referencing Dalla Valle’s hillside vineyards. This beautiful silky wine was crafted by Andy Erickson, formerly of Screaming Eagle, insuring a phenomenal wine. It is a vivid red on the darker end of the spectrum.
On the nose dark licorice essences melted with red and purple berries aromas. On the palate this wine does not stop to surprise you! This is a very well structured wine that keeps giving from dark smoky fruit to fresh cedar, eucalyptus and violette candied flowers, typical of the Cabernet Franc varietal.
Collina Dalla Valle continues year after year to be one of our favorite Napa blends. Whether you’ve tried it before or just want to see what all the fuss is about, pick up a bottle today and enjoy and experience a "baby Screaming Eagle for 1/20 of the price!
"2012 was a spectacular vintage in Napa Valley, with mild temperatures, very little precipitation, and an Indian summer that lasted until late October. The fruit on the Dalla Valle estate ripened beautifully, allowing us to harvest over several weeks with optimum flavor, aromatics, and tannin. The 2012 Collina Dalla Valle, produced mainly from younger vines on the estate, highlights the delicacy, precision, and richness of the vintage. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the wine brings forth the best of our terroir—aromas of dried flowers, red raspberries, black currant, gravel, and smoke. The intention with Collina Dalla Valle is that the wine is accessible upon release. However, for those who are patient, the wine will continue to evolve over the next 15-20 years in the bottle.”
