he latest release of Silver Oak is, here... and it is great! Don't listen to the so-called "critics" on the 1998 vintage... this wine is drinking even better at this point than the heralded 1997. When you think of Silver Oak... this wine is everything and then some!
e are highly honored that four of California's finest wineries have produced extremely special wines to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Duke of Bourbon. We began as a small neighborhood store on May 1, 1967, and have developed unique relationships in all aspects of the wine industry that have helped us grow into one of the top fine wine shops in America today. With great pride, we are pleased to introduce the four special wines from Duckhorn Vineyards, Au Bon Climat, Louis M. Martini and Long Vineyards.
"Duke's 35th Anniversary Cuvée"  e met with Dan Duckhorn and the talented winemaking team at Duckhorn Vineyards to select this very special Merlot. It was created from grapes grown in the Carneros appellation of southern Napa Valley, which is currently evolving as a top growing area for Merlot. This wine exhibits deep, rich color in the glass with an invitingly open nose. In the mouth, it has wonderful cherry flavors a rich tannin structure and great depth. Like other Duckhorn Merlots, this wine is very friendly and has a magical, unforgettable aftertaste. It drinks sensationally now and will age very well for up to 20 years - a definite must for Merlot and Duckhorn fans. |
"Duke's 35th Anniversary Cuvée" hat a wine! What a great price! In February of 2001, we met with Winemaker Michael Martini to help create this special Louis M. Martini 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon.The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine were grown on the historic Ghost Pines Vineyard in Chiles Valley, a small appellation within the Napa Valley. For aromatics and structural depth, small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot were added to the Cabernet Sauvignon. A slightly spicy character was achieved by aging the blend in a mixture of French and American oak. It is deliciously drinkable now and will continue to age gracefully for many years! |

"Duke's 35th Anniversary"  ur superb Pinot Noir was produced by our good friend Jim Clendenen from grapes grown on the Bien Nacido Estate, Blocks 2 and 11. This beautiful Burgundian-style wine is reminiscent of a Chambolle-Musigny or a Morey-St.-Denis. It has incredible fruit in the nose with aromas of berries, cherries and black pepper. A luscious mouthfeel is complemented by a delicious spice component, excellent fruit, great balance, long, rich, full flavors and a never-ending finish! A sure bet for Pinot Noir lovers!

"Duke's 35th Anniversary Cuvée"  ob Long, Zelma Long and Sandi Belcher have produced a spectacular Chardonnay from grapes that are both old (35 years) and young (more recent plantings) grown on their charming Pritchard Hill Estate in St. Helena, CA. As with all Long Vineyards Chardonnays, this wine has lovely golden color and alluring aromas of citrus, muscat and melons, which follow through in the flavor. Good acid with hints of vanilla, caramel and
oak round out this well-balanced, harmonious beauty. It drinks incredibly well now, but will age for up to i5+ (yes, that figure is correct!) years and get even better! A tantalizing treat!
